Head's message.

Welcome to our learning community!

At Tynwald High, we believe that education lays the foundation for life and should be a hugely positive, rich experience for all children.  This dovetails with our mantra “Every child matters.”  Our school offers a broad and balanced curriculum a happy, safe and supportive atmosphere, with a strong commitment to helping all learners succeed regardless of their background or abilities.  We strive to enable our learners to develop socially and emotionally so that they take pride in their learning and want to do well.  We believe in offering a curriculum that is purposeful, relevant, challenging and engaging. This again resonates with our mantra.

Tynwald high is a not-for-profit trust school.  We are a Cambridge International School and are authorised to offer Checkpoint, IGCSE, GCE, “O”, “AS” and “A” Level.

Through a range of interactive teaching strategies in the classroom all learners are motivated to achieve high academic standards.  Learning environments are structured to develop problem solving abilities and a range of transferable skills.  The use of technology is an integral part of classroom practice, allowing all learners to meet the demands of today’s digitally driven society.

While academic excellence is an important goal, we also value the development of the child as a whole.  Social skills, self evaluation and the raising of self-esteem are fundamental to good classroom practice.  We believe that learners learn best when they are happy, valued and feel respected as individuals.  We encourage all students to take an active part in an inquiring based learning process, to set goals, to be independent learners and to self-evaluate their progress. We also believe that effective takes place when learners get their hands dirty.

Our impressive, state-of-the-art, purpose built campus includes an Astroturf, natural grass soccer field, multiple purpose tennis courts, playgrounds only but to mention a few of some of the exquisite facilities we have.  We have an enrolment of around of 530 students between ages 13 and 18 who come from different suburbs in and around the capital.  Our carefully selected team of highly qualified, experienced and talented teachers provide a school experience that is designed to bring out the very best in the children that we teach.

Our stakeholders describe THS as a caring, warm and welcoming community where every child is valued, respected and provided with an opportunity to thrive. I invite you to come and discover for yourself the rich and exciting educational opportunities we provide for all learners.  We are proud of our school and are always happy to welcome visitors.
